Bugsy & Astroloop - Jungest [Freerange Records]

It’s been almost two years since Bugsy & Astroloop made their Freerange
debut with the Svegsy EP. In that time Bugsy has continued to build the
Take It Easy party he calls home in Milan - a long-running seminal weekly
event which brings the best underground house DJ’s to the city. At the
start of this year they also kicked off their own label of the same name
with a brilliant EP from fellow residents Dirty Channels.

On the Jungest EP we’re treated to two original tracks which demonstrate
once again that when Bugsy & Astroloop go head to head in the studio, the
magic is always going to happen. The title track focuses firmly on the
dance floor with a raw, jacking groove which maintains a bubbling energy
throughout. Incessant, distorted percussion, filtering latin horns and the
rudest throbbing bassline ensure peacetime party pleasure!

Murd continues this theme taking a less is more approach, crunchy beats
and a simple bouncing bassline forming the basis for a live-style MPC jam.
Cut up hip hop stabs and string loop bring an intensity to this warm and
punchy house track.

Finally, we’re pleased to have one our all-time favourites onboard to
remix Murd. Germany’s Soulphiction is the definitive producer’s producer,
someone who regularly creates dance floor magic whether it be through
original output on his Philpot label or remixes for the likes of Heist,
Classic and Sushitech. Here we find him in perhaps his most raw and
intense form to date, upping the BPM’s and cranking the low end into a
frenzied freakout that is dripping with attitude.
